MP asks for reassurance on defence industry’s future

MP CAROLINE Dinenage called on the prime minister to express his commitment to protecting the defence industry.

During Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday, the Gosport MP, asked if David Cameron would commit to defence jobs, defence spending and the defence industry.

Mr Cameron replied to the question saying that the £160bn equipment programme over the next decade is fully protected and will grow in real terms. He also mentioned his recent visit to Portsmouth when he saw the new docks which will welcome the supercarrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.
