FEARS of a hotel bar and restaurant opening until 1am have been allayed.
Whitbread, which owns Premier Inn, told Havant Borough Council it is willing to curtail its alcohol licence to finish at 11pm at its planned hotel off the A27 at Langstone.
The company had initially applied for a 1am licence, as revealed in The News on Tuesday.
It comes after plans for a Travelodge hotel were approved two years ago but never came to fruition.
A spokesman for the company said: ‘Premier Inn will be submitting a new planning application that will not change the building’s footprint greatly, to ensure it can accommodate a regular Premier Inn layout – this will allow for 82 bedrooms and a small breakfast and evening meal restaurant.
‘Premier Inn intends to submit the planning application this side of Christmas and, subject to planning approval, hopes to open the hotel in early 2016.’
Ann Griffiths, from Langstone, said the local residents’ association was pleased its concerns had been listened to and that it awaits the detail of the planning application.
