Office workers ‘have to be flexible with hours’

Have your say

A RECENT survey found that nearly three -quarters of professionals in Portsmouth are required to work outside their regular hours.

Results show this is more than five years ago, according to Regus, the workspace provider.

More than half of Portsmouth workers surveyed (56 per cent) say that fixed hours are no longer suited to their duties.

According to the firm this offers some explanation as to why so much extra time is spent at the office.

Some 73 per cent also reported a rise in remote workers, suggesting that the concept of 9-5 day in the office is outdated.

Richard Morris, the UK CEO of Regus, which has offices at 1000 Lakeside in North Harbour, said: These findings clearly show that UK working practices continue to evolve.

‘The fact that so many workers in Portsmouth are finding that “regular” hours no longer suit their roles, should prompt companies to embrace flexible working.’
