A HOLE under the A32 has kept the construction of the £9m Brockhurst Gate Retail Park in Gosport on track and has saved thousands of commuters from traffic woe.

Contractor Fareham-based Amiri Construction used specialist direct boring equipment to drill horizontally under the busy road to allow the sewage connection via a 150mm foul drainage pipe.

This meant that lanes on the A32 did not have to close to connect sewerage pipes.

Site manager Simon Hunter from Amiri said: ‘This has saved us taking possession of the road to complete the work.  Progress on the construction of the seven new retail outlets is going to plan and we expect the completion of the new retail park in November.’
