Pompey training ground fence proposals to go before Portsmouth City Council

PLANS to build fences around open fields for Pompey’s new training ground will go before councillors again tomorrow.

The club is seeking to build 3m fences with 5m nets to catch footballs above them around two pitches near Roko Health Club in Copnor.

Pompey has held a public consultation over the proposals after residents raised concerns they would lose access to open space.

Portsmouth City Council had already deferred making a decision as there was concern over land access.

But it has been decided that matter does not need to be taken by the planning committee and can be resolved at a later date.

Pompey has agreed the training ground will be for community use and not solely for its players.

A meeting over the plans will be held in Portsmouth Guildhall on the third floor from 5pm.
