IN AN historic event that took place across 21 sites, Portsmouth's residents came out in force to take part in Brewhouse & Kitchen’s first attempt at the world record for the largest beer tasting.
And they smashed it!
The pub group was successful in its attempt, securing the Guinness World Record for the Largest Beer Tasting (across multiple venues).
On one evening last week, 1,264 people sampled three of Brewhouse & Kitchen’s craft beers at the same time, overseen by Guinness World Records adjudicators in an event that took place at its venues across the nation, including the Brewhouse & Kitchen in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth.
Independent pub group Brewhouse & Kitchen had been calling on the craft beer fans and pub-lovers alike to support them in their attempt – and even offered free beer to lure in the punters.
Kris Gumbrell, co-founder of Brewhouse & Kitchen, said: ‘We are incredibly proud and humbled by the support from all the local communities that make each and every Brewhouse & Kitchen venue special.
‘The teams at Brewhouse & Kitchen pride themselves on creating a welcoming and friendly hub for the communities they serve and we couldn’t have set this record without the support from local people.
‘Beer is the world’s favourite alcoholic drink and for us to break a world record by enjoying some great beer is a wonderful feeling.
‘This is a world record not just for Brewhouse & Kitchen but for all who took part. We couldn’t be prouder.’
