Retirement living space

Have your say

Since the first apartments were released in the summer, Churchill Retirement Living has seen high levels of demand for its age exclusive development, Simmonds Lodge at Drayton, Portsmouth.

In the past five weeks more than 30 per cent of the 52 one and two-bedroom apartments have been reserved.

Caroline Haswell, the regional marketing executive for Churchill Retirement Living says: ‘We held an information day in June where those interested in the development could come and view the plans for the apartments and book a priority appointment to reserve their chosen plot once the welcome centre opened. The response was fantastic with more than 170 visitors and more than 60 appointments booked from the day.

‘Since then interest has continued to grow and we’ve now reserved 18 apartments with buyers keen to find an apartment where they can spend their retirement years with less worry and more time to enjoy themselves.’

Simmonds Lodge is located at Drayton, a small residential area in Portsmouth.

The development has been especially designed with the over-60s in mind, with features such as a video-entry system, lift to all floors, a 24-hour care and support system and a lodge manager for complete peace of mind. Communal facilities include an owners’ lounge which owners use for socialising and events, communal landscaped gardens, guest suite, a well-being suite providing health and beauty treatments and a fitness suite.

Churchill Retirement Living is also offering its Selling Made Easy service to take away the stresses and strains associated with selling an existing property, particularly one that you have lived in for a long time. The sales team will continually chase the estate agents on your behalf to ensure your existing property is being marketed well and viewings are being arranged to secure a sale as quickly as possible at a good price.

Portsmouth is a city known as the waterfront city and combines old with new. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is home to HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose Museum.

There is plenty to see and do in the area and there are easy links to the Isle of Wight. Prices at Simmonds Lodge start from £191,950 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £265,950 for a two-bedroom property.
