ORGANISERS are to hold a review to sort out the fiasco over tickets sold for the America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth Live! concert.

Team Origin is meeting Ticketmaster after receiving a string of complaints about access to the Saturday gig.

People have voiced their fury that some spectators got in for free – as a result of Friday’s South Coast Proms being cancelled – while others had paid for tickets.

Some feel they didn’t get anything for their money as they were sat in the same area as people with free passes to the show, which featured McBusted, despite being given assurance there was a VIP section for paying customers.

Leslie Greenhalgh, Team Origin events director, promised her team would reply to every complaint received and a decision will be made this week over any potential refunds for the show.

But those who paid to get into the Fanzone Arena and VIP grandstand for Sunday’s races are automatically getting refunds through Ticketmaster because poor weather forced the day to be cancelled.

Emails will be sent to notify customers once money has been put back into their bank accounts.

Those who bought their tickets through the on-site box office are being told to send their tickets to Ticketmaster for a refund.

Leslie said: ‘We will reply to every single person who emails us, we have had a number of emails during the week.

‘We are working with Ticketmaster to ensure we reply accordingly.

‘For those who bought tickets for Sunday’s racing, they will automatically get a refund.

‘We are going to review with Ticketmaster a number of different areas. A number of people have emailed about different concerns.

‘We want to assess all parties involved. We need to know for sure how things have happened.’

Leslie added: ‘We have had a lot of emails and this is only a small percentage in relation to the number of people who attended that weekend.

‘We have been overwhelmed with the response from people saying they had a fantastic time.’

Linda Copus, 68, of Milton, paid for a concert ticket - and was left furious after she was promised she could access a VIP section and it never materialised.

She said: ‘I feel I have been ripped off.

‘I asked everyone around me about the tickets and most of them had got in for free.

‘It’s not fair - I’m a pensioner. Everyone was just walking in for free.

‘There was nothing for my £45.’

Heather Briggs, of Havant, said there was a huge mix-up over her two-for-one show tickets and ended up having to pay for another ticket.

And she said she was left hanging around the ticket office with her daughter Emilly for an hour and a half before the show while Ticketmaster staff attempted to work out what was going on.

Ms Briggs said: ‘It clearly said at the top of our sheet that we had got the two-for-one offer.

‘I asked the Ticketmaster staff if they could help us, and they said, “we can’t do anything for you”.’

There was no immediate comment from Ticketmaster.
