SPORTS fashion retailer JD Sports has confirmed that it will move into a bigger shop in Portsmouth.
The shop will relocate from its existing Commercial Road store – moving into the former New Look unit further along the high street.
The new unit will see a bigger range of sportswear.
A spokesman for the chain said: ‘The main reason for the move is to give JD a bigger store to enable us to present a fuller range.
‘The new store will open in spring 2019 – the current store will close at the same time.’
New Look closed its main store last weekend, and moved its womenswear range into its existing menswear store in Cascades Shopping Centre.
The closure was part of a Company Voluntary Arrangement launched earlier this year in an attempt to make the business profitable.
JD Sports started with one unit in 1981 in Bury. It now has more than 800 stores across the UK.
