CAR dealer Cambridge Garage has announced plans to redevelop its premises and open a new state-of-the-art showroom.

The Volvo dealer in Bedhampton Road said it had invested ‘significantly’ into its 6,300 sq ft site, which will now undergo six months of development.

Victoria Stringer, managing director, said: ‘The move represents a significant investment for us and we’re pleased to announce we will remain open throughout the duration of the development work. We look forward to welcoming customers both new and old to our stunning showroom later this year.’

The redevelopment will increase the dealership’s capacity to display eight cars in the showroom, while incorporating Volvo Retail Experience, the Swedish manufacturer’s latest corporate makeover.

VRE, a global brand standard that Volvo Car UK is rolling out across its dealer network, is a new way of retailing designed to make customers feel relaxed and at ease in an environment that informs and provides flexible waiting, working and assessment areas.

Victoria said: ‘Our six-month redevelopment will be carried out in phases, starting with a new sales office and parts department, then moving onto the main showroom before finishing the workshop and external areas – including a brand new entrance where customers will be greeted by their own dedicated service advisor.’

The new Volvo design includes a brand new workshop environment, incorporating while-you-wait servicing and MoTs, all carried out in one of six state-of-the-art workshop bays.

The firm has also recruited Mitchell Hobbs, 18, from Havant, as product specialist to guide customers through buying and ownership, by providing product knowledge and insights on each Volvo.
