A GOLF club has scooped a prestigious award at a ceremony presented by two football legends.

Golf at Goodwood was named the south’s Business Initiative at the Year at the Club Mirror Awards on November 29.

The fixture at Doncaster Racecourse was fronted by Ray Stubbs and Mark Lawrenson and saw awards dished out for more than 25 categories.

Golf at Goodwood – which won an award for its work to get more women and junior players into the sport earlier this year – was nominated for two awards.

It had also been named on the shortlist for the Golf Club of the Year Award.

A spokesperson for Golf at Goodwood said the club is dedicated to getting new players into the game and has been running free demos for players new to the sport.
