'What a joke!' '“ Facebook reacts to plans to build a tunnel from the Isle of Wight to Fareham

It's designers hope it will breathe new life into the Isle of Wight and make it quicker and easier to get across the Solent. But it seems that most people are sceptical about whether the mooted Solent Freedom Tunnel will ever be built.  This week the group behind it, Pro-Link, revealed the route it would take '“ from Whippingham on the island, coming up at one point near Daedalus near Lee-on-the-Solent with cars joining the Peel Common roundabout. An extension would then head back underground until just north of Fareham, where a dual carriageway would run up to the M27.  But judging from the nature of most readers' reactions, Pro-Link has some convincing to do to win hearts and minds'¦.
