A FAREHAM museum will temporarily close to prepare for a busy summer of events.

Westbury Manor Museum will close to train new volunteers and prepare for celebrations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.

Councillor Keith Chapman, Hampshire County Council member for culture and recreation said: ‘We have had a fantastic response from members of the public and I would like to thank everyone who has applied to become a volunteer.

‘It is wonderful to see so many people offering to play a more active role in helping their local community museums and historic sites. With an exciting summer programme of upcoming Jubilee and Olympic-inspired events, the help that our volunteers provide will be crucial.’

The museum will close from three weeks from Saturday, May 5.
