FIREFIGHTERS have given a warning to ensure chimneys are swept regularly after they were called to a house fire.

Members of Fareham fire station went to Trinity Green, in Gosport, at 4.50pm yesterday when a woman’s house filled with smoke. Crews arrived and put out the fire and found the house was smoke-logged as the chimney had not been swept.

Watch manager Dave Higgins said: ‘We would like to remind people to clear their chimney flues at least once a year.’
