EMERGENCY services were called to a crash in North End involving a car and cyclist.
Police and ambulance crews were at the scene earlier this afternoon on Kingston Road.
Firefighters from Southsea came across the collision at 2.33pm and stayed with the female cyclist until paramedics arrived.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said the cyclist suffered serious injuries.
He added: ‘We were called at 2.34pm to reports of a collision in North End at the Stirling Street and Kingston Road junction.
‘A Peugeot 106 and a cyclist were involved.’
An eye-witness said it appeared the cyclist was turning into Queens Road when the collision happened.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘We received a number of 999 calls around 14.30 this afternoon all reporting a collision between a car and a cyclist on Kingston Road.
‘We sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.
‘The cyclist sustained a leg injury and after treatment at the scene has been taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital.’
