Car and van in collision

FIVE people were checked over for injuries after a car and a van collided in Portsmouth.

The incident happened in Anchorage Road at 4pm today.

A Skoda Fabia car, with three people inside, and a Transit van, with two people inside, collided causing damage to the sides of the vehicles.

Fire crews from Southsea attended the scene, as did police and paramedics.

Watch manager Darryl Bishop reminded people of the importance of wearing seatbelts at all times.

The incident caused long tailbacks as it was dealt with.

Elsewhere fire crews also went to a fire in a paint workshop in Goldsmith Avenue, Southsea.

The fire started in an electric extraction unit at 3.30pm and was put out by 4.30pm.
