A CAR was severely damaged by fire after an electrical fault.

Firefighters from Fareham were called to a Vauxhall Insignia in Eastern Way in the town.

A crew arrived at 7.20pm on Saturday and spent half-an-hour tackling the blaze, which started in the passenger compartment.

At around the same time, fire stations across the area were alerted to a high-rise flat incident in Grafton Street, Buckland, Portsmouth.

The blaze turned out to be a small fire in a stairwell and was put out using a bucket of water.
