FIREFIGHTERS were called to a car fire in a country lane which was described as ‘suspicious’.

One fire crew from Cosham put out a Mitsubishi Pajero ablaze between Southwick and Denmead at about 8.30pm yesterday.

Watch manager Steve Pearce said: ‘It was all parked up in the middle of nowhere. It was suspicious, but we don’t know if it was reported as stolen or where it came from.’

He said it took about 15 minutes to put the fire out.
