A MAN was lucky to escape with only bumps and bruises after his car rolled over on to its roof on a motorway sliproad.

The 34-year-old was travelling southbound along the A3(M) towards the Rusty Cutter roundabout at Bedhampton when he lost control of the car.

The accident happened at about 9.15pm on Saturday.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the scene and found an overturned silver Vauxhall Corsa.

Joe Liney, a firefighter from Havant fire station, said: ‘The casualty had been pulled out by a member of the public and was receiving first aid from an ambulance when we arrived.

‘We made the scene safe and handed it over to the police.

‘There was nobody trapped and no other dangers.’

Cosham’s fire engines were also called, but were not needed.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said one ambulance was sent.

She said: ‘We had reports that a car had rolled over.

‘The 34-year-old driver was out of the car by the time we arrived.

‘His injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital to be checked over.’
