Care home residents debate current affairs with local MP

MEON Valley MP, George Hollingbery, has visited care home residents to discuss issues on current affairs.

Mr Hollingbery, who was joined by local councillors, engaged in a question and answer session covering issues such as Brexit, social care and public transport.

Mr Hollingbery said: '˜I very much enjoyed my visit to Wellington Vale to speak with residents about a range of local and national topics.'

Chris Roby, admissions adviser at the home, feels it is important that whatever the resident's age or circumstances they don't feel disconnected to contemporary  social issues.

'˜The visit was arranged after one of our residents commented she wasn't aware of what was going on in the news. It is important our residents feel part of the community and connect  with the wider world,' said Mr Roby.
