A TELEPHONE service that provides people with emergency support has won a national award.

Telecare, which is run by the PA Consulting Group and Hampshire County Council, won a Telecare Services Association ‘crystal award’, handed out for ‘inspiring progress within technology-enabled care services’.

Executive member for adult social care, Councillor Liz Fairhurst, said: ‘Telecare can have a huge impact on people’s lives by providing emergency support, helping people manage their health and wellbeing and helping lonely or isolated people connect with their communities.

‘As the world of technology moves rapidly forward, we want to ensure that in Hampshire we are embracing these opportunities.’
