Staff at Co-operative Food stores in the Portsmouth area have raised over £13,000 for Mencap.

Stores in the area organised a range of events and collections throughout last year in aid of the charity that supports young people with learning disabilities.

The money will be used to help launch Inspire Me – a new project to provide young people with learning disabilities with the skills necessary in the workplace.

Co-operative membership officer for the Portmouth area, Fay Bowden, said: ‘Stores on the island have done a fantastic job of fundraising, and I’d like to congratulate them all.’
