Chance to record history of parkÂ

MEMORIES of Leigh Park Gardens are wanted to help preserve the area's history for posterity.Â

Volunteers will be talking to people next weekend as part of a project to create an oral history and archive project for the area.

It is part of Staunton Country Park's ongoing £4m restoration and preservation project, which has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the county council.

This is event will take place at Leigh Park Community Centre in Dunsbury Way, Leigh Park, between 10am and 1pm on Saturday, September 29.

The organisers are looking for photos and memorabilia of Leigh Park Gardens, which is now included in the country park, and want to hear any stories about it.

As well as locals passing on their memories, there is also the chance for people to become volunteers to record memories for the archive.
