A CHARITY that supports people who have suffered sexual abuse is celebrating its 30th birthday with a pub night.

The Portsmouth Area Rape Crisis Service was started in 1981. The centre has about 50 volunteers and helps men and women aged 13 and above who have been sexually abused.

Centre director Kim Hosier said: ‘In 1981 a telephone line was set up for people who had suffered sexual abuse, as at the time the closest one was in London.’

Parcs at the Fox takes place on Thursday, June 16, at The Fat Fox pub, Albert Road, Southsea, from 8pm.

Headlining the night is band The Colliders and comedian James Stewart will also take to the stage.

Tickets cost £5, which can be bought on the door, and money raised goes to Parcs.
