WORSHIPPERS are gearing up for their biggest fundraiser of the year.

St Mary’s Church, in Fratton Road, Fratton, will hold a fun day on Monday, May 7 from 10am to 4pm.

Visitors will get to sample more than 40 different ales and ciders from local breweries in a beer tent.

For youngsters there will be a bouncy castle, games and craft stalls.

Live bands will perform on a stage and people will be able to climb the church tower and admire the views.

Proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the church and other local charities and businesses who set up stalls on the day.

Last year £30,000 was raised.

Fr Bob White, vicar of St Mary’s Church, said: ‘The event is a real celebration of life. People meet up with old friends and have a good catch-up.

‘It’s like a large village fete, on a very large scale, right in the middle of the city.’

Entry is free. For more information contact
