Charity golf day brings in thousands

A GOLF day has raised more than £5,000 for charity.

The event at Cams Hall Estate Golf Club in Fareham earlier this month made £5,942 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Event organiser Shaun Munce said: ‘At first, it was just a small group of friends playing to raise a modest amount for charity.

‘Since then, the golf day has grown into a much larger event with players, family and friends all being involved in a great day for two amazing causes.

‘I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.’

Lisa Coates, fundraising manager for Macmillian on the Isle of Wight said: ‘It was a great day which has raised a fantastic amount for both charities.

‘We are so grateful to Shaun and everyone involved for organising this event.’

A total of 72 golf players, along with their family and friends, headed along to the annual event, which has raised over £28,000 for the two charities since it first started in 2012.
