Chichester business inspired by colleague raises cash

The team at Covers in Chichester has raised £302 for Brain Tumour Research after a member of staff was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Senior administrator Dawn Watson was diagnosed with the tumour last year.

After revealing the news to her colleagues in October, Dawn underwent a complex operation to have the tumour removed.

She is still undergoing treatment to beat the cancer.

To help raise money for the charity, the staff decided to take part in Wear A Hat Day.

Henry Green, managing director at Covers, says: ‘Dawn is a highly valued member of the team and we were devastated to learn about her diagnosis.

‘We wanted to do something to support her and her family at this really difficult time.

‘Taking part in Brain Tumour Research’s event felt like a great way to help raise awareness of this awful disease.

‘It also showed her how much she means to the team at Covers.

‘We are delighted to be able to make a donation to such a worthwhile charity.’

Employees at the timber and builders merchants on Quarry Lane wore a range of hats to show their support.

They were decked out in an array of diverse and fun hats of all shapes and sizes including sombreros, boaters and beanies.

Brain Tumour Research is the only national brain tumour charity dedicated to funding scientific research and needs to raise £1m a year to continue its work.
