BOOK worms and motor lovers will get a rare treat at a charity fun day in Chichester.

Children’s book writer Val Biro will open Racton Fete, at Lordington House, Chichester on Saturday, August 27.

He will arrive in style in a Gumdrop, the name for a vintage Austin 1926 motor car.

A Punch and Judy show, pony rides and terrier racing will be among the highlights at the family event.

The fete, between 2pm and 5pm, will host a barbecue and stalls selling Lordington Lavender. Bric-a-brac, books and plants will also be on sale.

A raffle will be drawn at 4.30pm. The top prizes are £100 and £50 in cash.

Entry costs £2 for adults and is free for children. Proceeds will go to Save the Children UK and Racton Church.
