A LIBRARY is to close for three and a half weeks so a self-service system can be installed.

Chichester Library will be closed from Friday, October 7 at 7pm to Monday, October 31 at 9am.

People can still borrow up to 20 items before the temporary closure, and lending times will be temporarily lengthened to cover the period. The nearest libraries are Bognor Regis, Selsey and Southbourne.

West Sussex County Council deputy leader, councillor Lionel Barnard, who oversees the library service, said: ‘The self-service terminals will allow you to borrow and return your loans quickly and easily by using the touch screen and following the instructions.

‘You will be able to print a list of what you’ve borrowed, check when an item is due for return and make any cash payments.

‘Staff will also be on hand to help.’
