YOUNG people interested in a career in childcare have got the chance to enrol on a new apprenticeship course.

Run by Paragon Skills for Industry, the apprenticeships include learning about practice and theory while working towards an industry standard qualification.

Paragon Skills, based in Fareham, also aims to help learners find a work placement or paid employment during their course.

And provided they are between 16 and 24, students don't have to pay for their course and might actually receive money from a potential employer or through government funding.

Marina Horrocks, operations director for care at Paragon Skills, said: 'The childcare apprenticeship can be shaped to suit the learner and their needs at the time they take up the course.

'We will give them the highest standard of skills they need to get them into a successful position.'
