THEIR chips have beaten hundreds of others and today are named as the county’s best.
Mother Kelly’s has once again taken the title of the Best Chippy Chips in Hampshire in the Choice Chip Awards.
The annual awards are run by the Potato Council and Mother Kelly’s, which has branches on Southampton Road, in Paulsgrove, and North Street, in Emsworth, has scooped the award for the second year in a row.
After winning last year, owner Trevor West, pictured, revealed his award-winning chips are made from only top-quality maris piper potatoes which are blanched and then fried.
This year a record number of 68,000 Brits voted for their favourite chip shop out of 900 entrants across ten regions in Great Britain.
Kate Cox at Potato Council, said: ‘Here in Great Britain we are undoubtedly a nation of chip lovers.
‘Chip Week is a fantastic celebration of our great British food tradition.
‘Us Brits feel strongly about supporting our local chippy, so it’s no surprise so many people took the time to vote for their favourite in the Choice Chip Awards this year.’
