AS A teenager in today’s society you get judged by what is shown in the media.
The media portray teens as horrid, having no aspirations and worse.
But not all teens are like that. I’m the deputy member of Youth Parliament for Fareham, Havant and Gosport.
And I’m trying to get media to show positive stories about youth.
The media doesn’t always show the true bits about youth and it’s got to the point now where young people are being judged – by their age.
I want to change my constituencies for the better and I hope to change the media’s perception of youth.
I want newspapers to put a column about all the positive things young people around the community are doing, but I need people’s help.
I need children to write in and tell all about the wonderful things they’re doing. It might be in school or just around their areas.
With your help, my dreams of changing young people’s perception can change.
This isn’t just going to help young people, it’s going to help elderly people.
Elderly people are terrified of young people as the media portrays them to be part of hooded gangs.
Therefore, the media isn’t just changing young people’s appearances, it’s changing the way elderly people act towards youth.
I want a column purely dedicated to youth that shows the amazing things that they’re doing in the community.
It might even be about the something they’re hoping to do or it might be about something they did a year ago. Advertise what you’re doing and you might get people helping you.
