MAKING your budget for Christmas stretch that little bit further can make a big difference.
It can mean buying an extra special present for a loved one, or perhaps even fund a night out.
According to short-term loan provider Wonga, Portsmouth is one of the best places in the country to have a night out on a budget.
Data based on figures from PintPrice and Numbeo revealed that Portsmouth was the fifth cheapest place for a night on the town.
According to the statistics, the average price of a pint in the city is £3, with the discounted drinks on student nights helping to lower the cost of going out even further.
Wonga also suggests going into Southsea to find some of the cheaper venues in the city.
James McMaster, head of UK marketing at Wonga, said: ‘With so many events planned in the run up to Christmas, it’s renowned as a tough time to budget.
‘We’ve conducted this research to help people plan a night out and have created a handy guide on the top tips for a night out on a budget.’
