A celebration of all that is great about living on the south coast was on show today as the Great South Run mini run failed to disappoint.

Hundreds of children aged between three to eight years old dressed up for the occasion as they tackled a 1.5k course with big smiles in glorious sunshine.

And while the smiles were infectious all around Southsea seafront, not least on the face of race starter Tirunesh Dibaba, arguably the world’s greatest ever female distance runner.

The children were accompanied and supported by friends and family.
