CIVIC offices in Havant will be switching off the lights for Earth Hour tomorrow.

In an effort to reduce carbon footprints around the world, famous landmarks and large organisations are all turning off their non-essential lights between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

The Plaza and the Southmoor office building will be taking part.

Councillor David Collins, environment leader for Havant Borough Council, said: ‘We are proud to take part in World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour. Everyone can make a difference to help protect our planet and we all have a key role to play.

‘Take part in Earth Hour and turn your lights off at 8.30pm.’

Portsmouth City Council has registered to take part.
