Consultation tomorrow will outline planning proposals for the future of Milton

NEIGHBOURHOOD planners will unite to display their proposals for the future of Milton tomorrow.

Recognised by Portsmouth City Council, the Milton Neighbourhood Plan is the only strategy to be drawn up by a group of city residents, separate to the Local Plan.

It will be pitched at Milton Village Hall from midday until 5pm by its creators, the Milton Neighbourhood Planning Forum.

As part of their outlines, residents have suggested action to create a ‘meaningful and sustainable’ plan – which involves ‘re-use of building rather than new builds’ over the next 15 years.

A spokesperson for the forum said: ‘We are trying to address the imbalances in housing provision so that housing stock is appropriate for the local population.

‘We are trying to retain and enhance as much of the character of Milton as we can, so that it is a great place to grow up, live and raise a family in.’
