MEMBERS of the public can now find out the latest information from Cosham fire station as it joins the world of Twitter.

The fire station in Wayte Street is the first full-time station in the county to officially join the social networking site. The retained station at Portchester already has an account.

Firefighter Simon Lovelock, of Cosham red watch, said: ‘The aim is to engage with the public and give out information on community initiatives we are involved in.

‘The station hopes to use the account to send messages on fire safety, fundraising events and answer people’s questions. It will also give them a chance to see what we do day to day.’

Follow the stations by logging on to Twitter and searching for the name @cosham23 or @portchester28.
