COSHAM fire station is due to open its doors every Monday to host community days.

As well as giving safety advice, the station will also host other organisations who will give information on a number of subjects.

These include trading standards information, help to quit smoking and loan shark advice.

The first Community Day takes place on Monday, April 2, from 10am to 2pm at the station in Wayte Street, Cosham.

Firefighter Al Patrick, of Cosham red watch, said: ‘We want to help make the Cosham community a safer place and to be more involved so the public can approach us.

‘People are invited to come along to the launch and get some advice and have a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.’

On the first Community Day the Resident Participation team will be available to answer housing questions.

The fire service’s community contact point vehicle will also be open to give safety advice.

The pilot scheme runs until October and excludes Bank Holidays.
