Council collects 1,250 Christmas trees for recycling

MORE than 1,000 Christmas trees were collected by a council to be recycled.

Gosport Borough Council’s contractors Urbaser collected 1,250 trees, a substantial increase on collections in previous years.

It meant that nine-and-a-half tonnes of green waste was put into a compost over the course of the two-week collection.

A spokeswoman from the council said: ‘This was a huge success and a big thank must go out to everyone who put their Christmas tree out for collection.’

The trees will be used to make Pro-Grow compost which is created using a natural process of only air and water.
