THERE were Jubilee wedding bells as a Fareham couple surprised party guests – with a secret marriage service.
Gareth Trott and his new wife Louise invited guests to a street party in Westborn Road, Fareham, to celebrate the occasion.
But as they gathered to revel in the feel-good spirit felt around the whole area, little did they know Mr Trott had a breathtaking announcement in store for them – they would be special guests to watch the couple tie-the-knot.
His proud parents Peter and Katrina Trott, a councillor for Fareham Borough Council, told The News everyone was surprised by his inpromtue invitation to the wedding service at Fareham Register Office in Osborn Road South.
They are pictured signing the register with Louise’s children Megan, Talia and Abbie.
Dad Peter said: ‘It was a total surprise for us.
‘We had been invited to another Jubilee party that afternoon.
‘We were late to Gareth’s because of that.
‘At around quarter to four we had a phone call from Gareth asking where we were.
‘When we arrived he said he had something to say to the guests and announced we all had to be at Fareham registry office for 5pm!
‘We thought wow!
‘It’s typical of our son to do something like that.’
Mrs Trott added: ‘We are delighted to have a lovely new daughter-in-law in Louise and grandchildren Abbie, Megan and Talia.’
