BEER lovers will be in for a treat when a social club holds its first beer festival during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend.

More than 10 real ales and ciders will run through the taps at Cowplain Social Club, in London Road, Cowplain, on Sunday, June 3.

An afternoon session will be held from midday until 4pm and the evening session will be between 7pm and 9pm.

During the day there will be a bouncy castle for children and snacks and hot food will be served throughout.

Visitors will be treated to live music in the evening.

Bar supervisor Kimberley Martin, 24, said: ‘It’s the first time we’ve decided to hold a beer festival.

‘If it takes off then we will look into doing it annually.

‘We’re hoping for a big turnout.

‘It’s all about bringing the community together and celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.’

Entry is free for members and £2 for non-members.
