FIREFIGHTERS rescued a 24-week pregnant woman after a car crash.

The crash involved two vehicles on the junction between Burnaby Road and Park Road in Portsmouth, but only one car was there when two fire engines arrived at 8.28pm.

Fire crews had to cut the pregnant woman out of her car, but firefighters said that they did not have to use full cutting equipment. She was handed to paramedics for treatment.

Earlier yesterday evening, the Southsea crew was also called to help paramedics in getting into a home in Waverley Road, after the resident suffered a stroke.
