TEAMS of firefighters took part in a rescue competition.
The United Kingdom Rescue Organisation competition took place in Eastleigh at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters in one of the largest competitions of its type in the world.
Crews, with one partly made up of firefighters from Fareham and Portsmouth, were pitted against each other to rescue casualties and give trauma care in exercises.
Ukro chairman and assistant chief fire officer Steve Apter said: ‘I would like to congratulate all the firefighters who took part in the competition and I would like to thank Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service for hosting this fantastic event.
‘The range of skills and professionalism on show during the event was fantastic and it was great to see all of the teams’ efforts recognised by those at the awards ceremony.
‘It’s due to their professionalism, dedication and commitment to their training, to be the best at what they do.’
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s team won top prize, and Hampshire’s team was runner-up.
