FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue five people who were stuck in a lift at Gunwharf Quays.

The incident happened at 4.40pm today and saw two crews from Southsea Fire Station attend the scene. They freed the people from the lift, which was in residential block the Round House, by 5pm.

Elsewhere, Gosport firefighters were called to put out a commercial vehicle after it caught light in The Paddock, Gosport, at 4.50pm. The fire was out by 5pm.
