A HOUSE narrowly escaped being burnt to the ground thanks to fire crews.

The blaze took hold of two sheds in Red Barn Avenue, Portchester, at 3.25am on Saturday.

The fire had spread to the eaves of the house, however quick arrival of fire crews from Portchester prevented further damage to the house.

A spokesman said: ‘The cause is being investigated by the fire service.’
