FIRE crews from across the region were drafted in to help tackle a dockyard blaze in Southampton.

Southsea fire station sent a ladder platform and one appliance to the scrap metal fire at King George V dry docks on Tuesday.

Cosham fire station sent a stand-by crew, while crews from Havant, Fareham and Portchester also attended incident.

The blaze, which started at about 9am, is expected to be burnign for several days.

It is not known what caused it.
