Cross-county thief facing six and a half years in jail

The attempted robbery of a young man in Gosport has prompted a police appeal for information.

The 23-year-old was approached from behind and threatened some time between 7.30pm and 9.15pm on Saturday.

It happened in the area of Jamaica Place and Shaftesbury Road in Gosport.

The suspect is white, in his 30s, with a stocky build, deep voice, and a Scottish accent.

He was wearing a black beanie hat and a navy blue jacket.

The victim suffered a cut to his right hand while trying to defend himself from the man.

Nothing was reported stolen.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call CID at Fareham police station by phoning 101.
