A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was left with a fractured jaw when he was punched in the face during a robbery.

The teenager was walking north in Albert Road in Southsea and had just walked past the Waverley Road junction when he was approached by a man.

The robber chased him along the road between 10.40pm and 11.15pm.

When the boy turned round, the man punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.

The victim got up and tried to hit back, but the man was joined by a group of friends.

The man demanded that the boy hand over his grey BlackBerry phone. The teenager gave him the mobile, fearing the attack would continue if he refused,

The victim suffered a fractured jaw and needed hospital treatment following his ordeal last Friday.

Now police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Det Con Jackie Foley of Portsmouth CID said: ‘This appears to be an isolated incident. We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.’
