HUNDREDS of pounds worth of electronic equipment was stolen following a burglary on Hayling Island.

Crooks broke into a ground floor flat in Seafront through an unsecured front door.

They then ransacked the flat as they searched for valuables.

A total of £600 cash, which was in an envelope, was stolen.

The haul included an Acer Inspire laptop, a HP Pressario laptop, a Samsung Wave mobile phone, and various items of clothing.

The raiders also stole some pain relief medication.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry and are urging residents to make sure their doors are properly locked and secured.

They are now seeking witnesses to the burglary, which happened between 1.30pm and 1.50pm on Tuesday.

PC Emily Dummer, from Waterlooville CID, said: ‘This has understandably left the victim shaken and upset. We are keen to track down those responsible as soon as possible.

‘We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this burglary, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time.’
