A MAN is due to appear in court accused of burgling an elderly woman’s home.
Christopher Doughty, 53, was charged by police in connection with the aggravated burglary in Hambledon.
As reported, an elderly lady and her carer were bound and gagged during the raid.
A large amount of valuables were taken in the burglary, which happened at 2am on October 9.
At the time, police reported that three men wearing gloves and balaclavas broke into the home.
A car was heard being driven away at speed shortly afterwards.
Doughty, of Holly Gardens, in West End, Southampton, has also been charged with aggravated burglary at a home in Dumbleton Close, Southampton.
The charges are part of a major investigation by Hampshire police under Operation Watch.
Five further men from Southampton, aged 24, 29, 36, 43, and 48, have been arrested by detectives on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle and have been bailed pending further enquiries until January 7.
Doughty will appear at Southampton Crown Court on January 2.
